Michelle
& David

The Story of Us

HOW WE MET

We met by chance in Portland: Michelle was celebrating a friend's birthday, and David was there for work. On David's last night in the city, our paths crossed. We reconnected in the Bay Area, and our journey together began.

HOW WE THRIVED

All of our friends know that we're really into MBTI. As an INTP and an ISTJ, we found that the idea of the best pairings sharing two personality letters and differing in two holds true for us. Michelle has made David more adventurous, while David has brought structure to Michelle's life. Together, we love creating memories through our shared hobbies—traveling, reading, fitness, and over-ordering delicious food!

HOW HE PROPOSED

Picture this: It's 2023, our first night in the romantic city of Paris, France. The spring air is crisp from a fresh drizzle, and Michelle is ready to settle in, thinking the big proposal will be at the Eiffel Tower the next morning. Her plan unravels in the best way when she turns around and sees David on one knee. With the iconic tower in the distance, he asks the question, and Michelle says yes.

Thank you for being part of our journey. We can't wait to celebrate our special day with you!

Discover the Best of Guadalajara

David and I visited Guadalajara, Mexico in May 2024 and fell in love with its vibrant culture, rich history, and, most of all, its incredible food scene. We've put together this page to share our favorite dining spots and activities, hoping you’ll fall in love with this city just as we have.

MICHELLE & DAVID APPROVED RESTAURANTS

There's too much good food to mention! Click the link for our entire culinary list hand-created by Michelle:

ANDARES MALL - CENTRO COMERCIAL

The largest mall in Mexico, with nearly every designer brand you can think of. Its outdoor main avenue is lined with vibe-y restaurants—like a Mexican take on Santana Row.

ZOOLOGICO GUADALAJARA

Largest and one of the top zoological parks in Latin America, featuring over 360 species and offering immersive experiences like a safari ride, cable car rides, aquarium, animal feedings, and tropical rainforest exhibits

TEQUILA DAY TRIP

Welcome to the birthplace of tequila! Just 80 minutes from the city by car or train, Tequila is home to some of the best tastings and distillery tours in the world. (And yes—real tequila is basically hangover-free.) Reach out to David or Michelle for info on the Monday November 10th private tour

TLAQUEPAQUE

A colorful arts district just outside Guadalajara, known for boutique shops, traditional crafts, and lively streets. It’s the cultural heart of Jalisco—walkable, vibrant, and full of charm.

BOSQUE LOS COLOMOS

A large and serene park featuring a beautifully maintained Japanese garden, ideal for a peaceful stroll or picnic.

BUS TOUR OF THE CITY

Guided open-air bus tour of various cities in the region with flexibility to hop on and off.

MAKE IT A TRIP

Why not explore more of Mexico while you're here?
We recommend adding on a few days in Puerto Vallarta for beaches and sunsets, or Mexico City for world-class food and culture. Both are just a short flight from Guadalajara and make for the perfect mini getaway.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will I receive the RSVP formal invitation?

Invitations will be sent out end of July 2025. Until then, please save November 8, 2025, on your calendar.

Is Guadalajara safe?

David and I have always felt safe in Guadalajara, even at night. Like any big city, just stay aware of your surroundings and avoid traveling alone. The city is beautiful, and the locals are incredibly friendly.

What airport should I fly into?

Fly into Guadalajara International Airport (GDL) — most hotels and the venue are within 30 minutes by car.

Where should I stay?

We recommend staying in well-established hotels in safe areas like Andares and Providencia. Wedding day shuttle pick-up will be at Hilton Guadalajara Midtown.

Will there be a hotel block reserved?

We've reserved a room block at Hilton Guadalajara Midtown, click the link below to book

How do I get around?

We recommend using Uber over taxis for getting around—it’s safe, efficient, and easy to use. On the wedding day, we suggest taking the provided shuttle for the most convenient transportation to and from the venue.

Can I bring a +1? Can I bring my children?

Yes, you’re welcome to bring a +1 and children! Just be sure to include your total guest count when filling out the RSVP in mid-2025.

What if I have food allergies or dietary restrictions?

Please inform us of any food allergies or dietary restrictions in your RSVP.

What should I wear?

Formal, black tie optional

Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony will be outdoors, and the reception will take place in a covered area. November typically brings beautiful weather, with daytime highs around 79°F and evening lows around 50°F. Ladies, we recommend bringing a light jacket for the cooler night temperatures.

What are some things I can do in Guadalajara before or after the wedding day?

Take a look at our recommendations page!

Are you accepting gifts and will there be a registry?

Your presence is our present. Gifts are not necessary, but if you feel inclined please visit our registry page.

Have more questions?

Please reach out to Michelle or David if anything is not answered above!
